Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier visits the construction site of the Bio-Veterinary Centre in Huambo, Angola
On 6 November 2025, GAUFF Engineering had the great honour of welcoming Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier to the construction site of the new Huambo Bio-Veterinary Centre in Angola. The project is being carried out by GAUFF Engineering in collaboration with NORÁFRICA on behalf of the Angolan government, represented by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry (MINAGRIF).
Upon his arrival in Huambo, Federal President Steinmeier was welcomed by Foreign Minister Téte António, the Governor of Huambo Province, Pereira Alfredo, and the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Isaac dos Anjos. Stefan Tavares Bollow, Managing Director of GAUFF Engineering, gave the Federal President a tour of the well-advanced construction site and explained the various departments and the current progress of construction. Federal President Steinmeier was very impressed by the scope and significance of the project and emphasised the close and trusting cooperation between Germany and Angola.
With the Bio-Veterinary Centre, the Angolan government is pursuing the goal of further diversifying the country's economy and sustainably increasing the efficiency and profitability of agriculture and livestock farming. After its planned commissioning in autumn 2026, the centre will produce a wide range of animal vaccines, including for cattle, pigs, goats, sheep and poultry. This should significantly reduce Africa's dependence on imported vaccines. In addition, research and development laboratories and facilities for quality testing and control will be established to promote innovations specifically tailored to African conditions and pathogens.
With this forward-looking project, GAUFF Engineering and its partners are making an important contribution to food and health security on the African continent. We are proud to be part of this significant initiative, which paves the way for sustainable agricultural development in Angola.
