Laying of the foundation stone for the new residential quarter „Regensburg district“ in Nuremberg

On 8 October, Bavaria's Prime Minister Dr. Markus Söder, together with Construction Minister Kerstin Schreyer, Nuremberg's Head Mayor Marcus König and the two managing directors of Siedlungswerk Nürnberg GmbH (SWN), Martin Hopes and Thomas Vetter, laid the foundation stone for the new Regensburg district in Nuremberg.

Here, in the east of the city of Nuremberg, a residential and commercial quarter with currently 381 planned residential units in 34 buildings is being built on approximately 39,000 m2. In addition, there are shopping facilities, areas for commercial and service businesses as well as a daycare center. Minister Schreyer emphasized that "Thanks to SWN's commitment, almost 400 affordable rental apartments are being built here. I am pleased that by this means many people will be able to find a new home here".

GAUFF Engineering was commissioned by SWN with the planning services for the traffic facilities and engineering structures of the new ensemble. These comprise the road traffic facilities including their connections/nodes to the surrounding transport network, the drainage of waste water and rainwater as well as the coordination of the logistics that have to be  established in accordance with the media carriers. This involves close alignment with the commissioned architectural office, landscape architects, building technology planners, energy suppliers and the responsible departments of the city of Nuremberg. The total project has a volume of 141 million euros.

The first apartments should be ready for occupancy in autumn 2023 and herewith the new gateway to the city will be filled with life.
