President Guebuza visits Maputo Bridge Project

On the 24th of November 2014, the President of Mozambique, the Honourable Armando Guebuza, visited the Maputo Bridge and Link Roads Project. The delegation included the Minister of Public Works and Housing, the Honourable Cadmiel Mutemba.

The President was received by Maputo SUL EP Chief Executive Officer, Paulo Fumane, and the Chinese contractor CRBC. The GAUFF team, acting as consultant for construction supervision and quality control, was also addressed by the President.

The delegation visited the construction sites on both the south and north bank. On the south bank the tour included a visit to the construction of the working platform and caissons for the main pylon M2 (south bank) and a visit to the guide wall construction for the 50 m diameter circular diaphragm wall for the 34 m deep anchor foundation construction pit as well as the piling works for pier No. 17. On the north bank, the delegation was showed the concrete batching plant and the started anchor construction areas. At the end of the visit the President expressed his satisfaction with the development of the works and its quality. The next steps for 2015 will focus on the construction of the approach bridges and the two main pylons.
