Regensburg Innovation Quarter – First construction phase about to be tendered

The ‘Regensburg Innovation Quarter’ is creating a new, modern and sustainable district on the former site of the Prinz Leopold Barracks in the east of the city. The city of Regensburg aims to create an innovative, future-oriented and socially diverse neighbourhood that ideally combines living, working and leisure.

GAUFF Engineering, together with Richter Ingenieurgesellschaft (ARGE GAUFF/RICHTER), was commissioned by the city of Regensburg as the client to coordinate the design of the development and the specialist planning involved. The scope of services includes planning coordination and integration of, among other things, local heating supply, electricity and drinking water supply, the expansion of broadband and fibre optic infrastructure, and the planning of the associated civil engineering works.

The approximately 25.7-hectare site will be developed in several construction phases. The first phase will see the construction of around 600 apartments, a daycare centre, a community centre with a library, spacious green areas and a new neighbourhood park. An integrated energy concept combines environmental heat from wastewater, geothermal energy and the air with photovoltaic electricity to achieve the highest possible degree of self-sufficiency in energy supply.

As part of the contract, the GAUFF/Richter consortium is responsible for the property planning of the civil engineering works (engineering structures service phases 2 - 9), the coordination of all parties involved, the collision testing of all media, the tendering of the civil engineering measures, and the local construction supervision and site management.

The plans for the development of the first construction phase (BA I) have now been completed. Construction work on the first residential buildings has already begun, so that the tendering process for the development work can be completed by the end of 2025.
