Second contract extension for the transnational energy project of the OMVG member states

GAUFF Engineering has been commissioned with the second addendum in the transnational energy project for OMVG ("Organisation pour la Mise en Valeur du Fleuve Gambie"). The contract extension, which was approved in advance by the World Bank, runs until mid-2024 and has a volume of approx. 1.7 million euros. GAUFF Engineering has been working on the project since 2015, representing and advising OMVG as the building contractor for the construction of the "Sambangalou" hydropower plant in Senegal as well as the high-voltage lines and associated infrastructure. GAUFF Engineering is also responsible for providing technical assistance during the commissioning of the Kaléta power plant in Guinea, which has already been built.

The majority of the 1,677 km high-voltage line is already in operation and supplies energy to the four OMVG countries of Senegal, Gambia, Guinea and Guinea-Bissau. Individual substations will be put into operation in spring 2024 and the dispatching will be implemented. Dispatching regulates the feed-in of electricity from the connected hydropower plant based on demand.

The following completion work is included in the order extension:

  • Financial closing with audit of the 2023/24 accounting records
  • Audit of the relocation measures that have been carried out (RAP)
  • Evaluation of the assets
  • Presentation of the initial balance sheet for the operating company of the SOGESART interconnector
  • Finalisation of any remaining work on the construction sites
  • Finalisation of the closing reports

The monitoring of this extensive energy project is expected to be completed in July 2024.
