Background
Aurelis Asset GmbH is planning new commercial space on the former Kohlenhofareal near the old central freight train station on approx. 7,500 m2. For this purpose, road traffic facilities, that will have to be connected to the surrounding transport network, as well as drainage systems are also planned and built. The new Kohlenhof office district is attractively located southwest of the old town in the inner-city area of Nuremberg and is intended to develop into a cluster for innovative companies, such as technology and digital industries.
Project
For the new industrial estate, an access road was built with a linking to the existing transport network including a connection for the new development area of the Gesellschaft für Konsumforschung (GfK). The construction project also included two turnaround systems for garbage trucks and crossing aids. Road inlets with connecting pipes and a new sewer were implemented at the drainage facilities. Its connection to the public main collector DN 1000, which had to be replaced over a length of 100 m, was made in the area of Kohlenhofstraße. Therefore, the erection of a special structure in in-situ reinforced concrete with a depth of about 5 m was required. Recultivation work, the renaturation of existing traffic areas, the adaptation of the existing lighting equipment as well as other services, such as the laying of empty conduits and coordination of the networks of the utility provider, were also supplied by GAUFF Engineering.
