Background
Fernwasserversorgung Oberfranken (Remote water supply of Upper Franconia - FWO) is a municipal administration union and the largest water supplier in Upper Franconia. It supplies around 20% of Upper Franconia's drinking water to cities and municipalities. The so-called Scheßlitz branch off has been working at its capacity limit in recent years, which made it necessary to renew the technical facilities at the Drosendorf pumping station to increase the conveying capacity.
Project
GAUFF Engineering was commissioned by the FWO with the planning and construction supervision of the modernisation measures at the Drosendorf pumping station and elevated tank, whose technology dated back to the 70s. For this purpose, the mechanical, piping and electrical engineering were completely renewed and the conveying capacity of the pumping station was increased. The building was thus renovated to the current state of the art in a future-oriented manner.
The entire conversion, with a project volume of around 1 million euros, had to be carried out during ongoing operation, which made the work from planning to execution a special challenge. The planning, tendering and structural implementation of the measures took place in various construction phases.
