Background
Under multilateral agreements with the World Bank, the Government of Mozambique (GoM) is implementing reforms in the field of urban water supply aimed at improving the supply, quality and the efficiency. Among other things, the program includes investments in the rehabilitation and expansion of the urban water supply in Beira, Mozambique's second largest city. The Fundo de Investimento e Património do Abastecimento de Água - FIPAG (Investment Fund and Asset Manager of Water Supply) is responsible for the implementation.
The main task of FIPAG is to ensure an adequate and safe water supply for the population in accordance with the Mozambican health and hygiene standards.
Project
GAUFF Engineering was commissioned with the technical planning and construction supervision for the rehabilitation of the existing distribution centres in the city of Beira, as well as for the construction of a new distribution centre in the Estoril district. As a basis for the planning, the specialists from GAUFF-Engineering carried out on-site inventories in the existing distribution centres in order to determine the entire need for renovation after assessment and technical evaluation.
The planning work includes the special field of civil engineering structures, technical equipment piping and machine technology, technical equipment electrical engineering and telecontrol technology as well as structural engineering.
The actual construction work will be tendered and awarded within the framework of an international tender using the Standard Procurement Documents of the World Bank. The construction period is about 12 months plus a 12-month warranty period.
