Background

In the frame of the elaboration of a cadastre of the water supply grid of the municipality of Porto Covo the loss ratio of the system was estimated by determination of the minimum flow rate by night. Thereupon, GAUFF Engineering was assigned with a project for detection and reparation of the leaks.

This measure was supposed to reduce the loss rate to a ratio in accordance with the European regulations.

Project

Based on the strategic plan for water supply, the municipality determined that the rate of water loss should be reduced by at least 40% related to the minimum flow rate by night.

Against this background GAUFF Engineering was assigned with the detection, location and reparation of the leaks.

On completion of the project, the objectives were surpassed by far. Such, the rate of loss in relation to the minimum flow rate at night could be reduced by nearly 50% and in relation to the entire water supply system by 76%.

The project was realised within 12 months in different phases. The successful completion of the project in due time and within the given budget emphasizes the high quality of the works executed by GAUFF Engineering.
