Munich Airport – Superordinate development AirSite West under construction

With the emergence of an area of about 50 ha. called AirSite West at the Airport of Munich, a new district is under construction, where offices, logistics, restaurants and hotels as well as parking spaces for employees and passengers will be available in the future. Moreover, the AirSite West will also be the headquarters of Lab Campus- a cross-company and cross-industry innovation Centre. An optimal connection to the road transport will be managed by the traffic junction at the central airport feeder (Junction West Zero) as well as a round-about at the Freisinger Allee, at the crossing to Nordallee.

The intended use of this site demands an extensive reconstruction and the expansion of the existing supply and disposal infrastructure. The working team GAUFF GmbH & Co. Engineering KG and act-consult AG (Consortium Development Munich AirSite West) has been entrusted with the general planning for the superordinate development of the area by Munich Airport Co. Ltd.

For about two and a half years of construction period, new water and waste water pipes with a total length of approx. 4.3 km, medium and low voltage connections, telecommunication / IT pipelines with a length of over 12.4 km and an approximately 1 km long-distance district heating pipeline will be installed. The streets and sidewalks of AirSite West encompass 23.800 m² of asphalt and paved surfaces.

After the launching of construction in June 2018, the building activities, carried out by the company JOSEF RÄDLINGER INGENIEURBAU GMBH, are in full swing. During the execution of the civil engineering works the difficult underlying conditions for the partial preservation of existing facilities, for route coordination, for construction of water retention and for temporary traffic management pose a particular challenge.

Certain partial construction phases have already been completed. At the same time, the first buildings are already been constructed on the fully serviced plots of land.

The completion of the development measures is planned for September 2020.
