International Workshop on Environmental and Social Aspects in Project Development and Implementation

Due to the increasing importance of environmental and social aspects in all phases of infrastructure projects, GAUFF Engineering invited to an E&S Workshop (Environmental & Social) in the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire from 09 to 13 January 2023. GAUFF Engineering's environmental and social experts from Côte d'Ivoire, Angola, Germany, Gabon, Mozambique, Portugal, Senegal and Uganda met at the Abidjan office for a professional exchange.

Core topics of the workshop were the environmental and social requirements for project financing by Equator Principles Financial Institutions (EPFI) and their coverage by export credit agencies (OECD ECAs). The implementation of the "EHS Guidelines" of the World Bank Group and the "IFC Performance Standards", which include comprehensive human rights aspects in addition to environmental, health and labour protection guidelines, was also an important aspect of the discussion.

The overall objective of the E&S workshop was to establish a transfer of knowledge between experts working in different countries and projects, as well as to ensure the application of uniform environmental and social processes at GAUFF Engineering.

The networking of our environmental and social experts, who are an integral part of the team in every project, is to be further strengthened in the future. In this way, synergies can be used effectively and our service portfolio for our clients can be further expanded in order to be a pioneer in environmental, social and sustainability issues in the long run as a project developer and consultant.
